Welder Job Description – Gentry Steel (Chattanooga, TN)Position SummaryThe Welder is responsible for fabricating and assembling structural steel components according to blueprints and specifications. This role involves MIG welding, fitting, grinding, and quality inspection to ensure finished products meet company and industry standards.Key Responsibilities
- Perform MIG welding on structural and miscellaneous steel components
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and weld symbols
- Lay out, position, align, and fit steel parts prior to welding
- Operate equipment such as welders, grinders, torches, and overhead cranes
- Inspect welds for accuracy, strength, and quality
- Perform grinding, cutting, and finishing of welded parts
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Follow all OSHA and company safety standards
